Organizations Partnering to provide Housing

By Derek Mendez in Uncategorized

Community Living North Perth and Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario have teamed up to bring a build project to the town of Listowel.  This project will deliver two semi-detached homes in Listowel, one for a family, and the other will be owned by CLNP and will house two individuals with developmental disabilities.

The stark reality is that persons with developmental disabilities simply cannot afford housing in the Municipality of North Perth.  This project was seen as a unique opportunity to provide housing for a family, as well as assist with the constant struggle of finding homes for people supported by CLNP.

The land for the project has already been acquired and the final touches are now being put on the site and building plans.  We anticipate a late June start to construction activities as we draw closer to the fund-raising target.

The Municipality of North Perth, residents of North Perth, and the business community have been extremely supportive of this initiative and without their support this project would not have been possible.  In the coming months, activity at the build site will definitely be ramping up, and the organizers are hoping for lots of volunteer help.  If you are interested in volunteering on this project, please contact Carolyn Bender at cbender@clnorthperth.ca or by phone at 519-291-1350.

Several fundraising methods are being used to collect for the project. The CLNP Re-Use-It Store is one of the fundraising projects assisting the project; if you want to support them with your business, head over to their store on Rocher Road, Listowel, on your next spare Friday or Saturday.
